As of now, our organization has no permanent kwoon. We train on any gym or private place available and we pay for the rent on a per hour basis. Some are kind enough to let us use the place without any kind of payment.
We are still looking for a permanent training space, though.
We operate in our area only (Batangas, Philippines). We do not have the resources to conduct seminars on other parts of the Philippines.
This is an issue we want to make a point. We are not affiliated with any other organizations nor are we certified. Why? Because there are no certified Jeet Kune Do kwoons here in the Philippines in which we are going to affiliate to. Yes being certified is indeed a big plus for our organization. But the only way to be certified and affiliated is to train under certified instructors in the U.S. and other parts of the world. As we said earlier we do not have the resources and we are not financially stable.
Jeet Kune Do is not a style, method, or system of martial arts. It is just a vehicle towards self-discovery. We teach our members how to discover their own potentials and weaknesses. Like a finger pointing to the moon. We are not a giver of truth but a pointer towards the truth. We like to share our experiences to others.
Absolutely not! Styles kill a person's free mind. Personal Fighting Method is just a name of an organization.
Actually no. Tournament fighting is very much different from street fighting. But we somehow participated in an open-tournament held in our area once just for fun.
They come and go. No permanent numbers. Partly because most of our members are students and some are working on a full-time job. Others have relocated to another area.
We incorporate anything we may find useful in developing our skills in the martial arts. Boxing, kickboxing, stickfighting, etc. We also do some cardio-kickboxing.
That is one thing we do not plan to do. Teaching self-defense techniques is like practicing katas or rehearsed routines. It only conditions our mind in that particular technique. As we can see conditioning our mind to react to a certain movement deadens our freedom to do what is best and what is right.
Nobody has a chance against a gun. The only chance you have against a gun is get a gun yourself! One squeeze of the trigger and that's it. You're in seventh-heaven. The best way to get out of this situation is avoid being in that situation. Avoid looking for trouble or even getting into trouble.
We regularly train twice a week.
Yes. We do spar with body protectors, head gear, etc. whenever we are able to borrow these equipments. We are planning to purchase our own so we could do some sparring whenever we want to.
We train some basic takedowns and locks. It's some sort of a personalized form of Jiu-jitsu.
We think Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is more realistic than Aikido. I have heard of some Aikido black belts in our area who got stabbed without even being able to perform their techniques :)
It's more like a "get together and share some knowledge" attitude. Everybody's free to share their knowledge as long as it "fits" Jeet Kune Do's concepts.
