Kicking range is the extension of the leg. All kicks can make contact but your punches can't touch your opponent.
Punching range is the extension of the jab. We are inside most kicks but outside the knees and elbows.
Trapping range is the range where the fight starts. It is the common denominator of Jeet Kune Do and the Filipino martial arts. This range is combative that it is an art and not a sport. Mastering trapping range is an advantage because you have all of your available tools at your disposal.
Grappling range is the range where you and your opponent are on the ground.
